<3 STITCHED WITH LOVE <3

I took my first sewing class my freshman year of high school and I have been hooked ever since. I started off making the easy stuff like Pj pants for my cousin and neighbors kids, pillows and dresses for my cousin. I wanted to try something alittle more challenging, so I got on the Internet to find my next project. I came across a page on "How to make a T-shirt quilt". At first I was like...Me?...make a quilt...I think that might be to hard. Then one day I was cleaning out my closet and came across a tub of all my old softball jerseys. I played softball for several years, so I had a bunch of them. I thought to myself..." What am I going to do with all these jerseys?". I really didn't want to get rid of them because that was a big part of my life. Then it HIT me...I can try to make a T-shirt quilt out of them. I still was not totally convinced that I could make this quilt. I told my mom and dad about me making a T-shirt quilt with my old jerseys and they both thought it was a great idea. Me and my mom went to the Joann's to get all the stuff for me to start making my first quilt. I started working on it the minute we got back and did not stop that night until I finished it. Almost 4 hours later I had finished my first quilt...YAY!!!. I was so proud of myself. I have made several quilts since then. I made my Dad a T-shirt quilt with some of his race shirts for Christmas one year and I made both of my friends their own quilt...Which they use daily..lol.

Here are some pics of some others I have recently made.

Breast Cancer Quilt

I made this quilt for one of my mom's friend

Princess Quilts

I made my Best Friends little girls each their own princess quilts this past Christmas. They LOVED them, which makes me feel good when I can put a smile on someones face.

Quilt of HOPE

I made this quilt for one of my friends that was going to have brain surgery to remove a tumor they found. On this quilt we asked some of his family to decorate their own square with quotes or funny memories of him. We decided that we wanted to put several pictures on their. To be honest, I had never transferred a picture to fabric, much less make a quilt out of them. Believe Me (I am sure my mom and friends will agree..lol) this was kind of stressful for me. I wanted this quilt to turn out perfect, but I was worried that I would not be able to do the pictures. After several attempts...I finally DID IT!!!!. Printed out the picture on a iron-on sheet and then pressed it on the fabric. I was really glad it turned out like it did. This quilt was truly stitched with love. A family came together to help one of them through something that was life changing.I would have to say this is one of my favorite quilts.

Hope you enjoyed reading about my quilts. I will try to take a picture of my first quilt that I made with all my softball jerseys for you. The next one I will be making is a Georgia Tech quilt for my mom's friend. I will post pictures once I finish it.

Trying something NEW!!!!

OK...so I am new to this whole blog thing. I have followed a couple of my friends blogs and I have decided that I want to try it out. So here it is..."Spread your wings and Fly".  The name kind of represents the changes that I want to start making in my life. I want this blog to be about several different things. I have many goals that I am working on right now and would like to share with you. One of my goals is to lose weight. I would like to share health recipes, exercise, quotes and other stuff to help those of you that are on this same journey. My next goal is to really start concentrating on my creative side. My mom has told me that I am a creative person and she has always tried to push me to expand on this talent. Well...you know they always say "Mom knows best"...lol and I think they are right this time. Since, this is my first blog it might take me some time to get the hang of this. If any of you have any comments or ideas on how to help me with my blog...Please do not hesitate to share.

Thank you so much for stopping by :o)
